A Swedish Holiday
One of the most well known Swedish holidays is Saint Lucia Day, or Santa Lucia Day. On this day, the oldest daughter in the family wakes up early and gives her family "room service" by serving them egg coffee and Saffron bread, a sweet and flaky Swedish treat. She would give them presents, too; recieving them as a thank you. A celebration was held for Santa Lucia, the girl who represents light, and the oldest daughter. A feast was held and decorated trees were put up. Lots of people think Saint Lucia day is similar to Christmas. People sometimes put up models of the original Santa Lucia and put trays with real food in her hands and put real food on it. A decoration also used is Lucia's straw goat. Some people even use Sweden's Dala Horses!
Ooooooh! Gold? This my kind of flag!
These traditional Dala Horses are AWESOME!
I am SO going to celebrate Saint Lucia day next year!
